Solicitor or Notary Public: Which Document Is Required
A Solicitor can certify a copy or prepare a document within the scope of the solicitor’s professional function. A Notary Public is used when the recipient requires notarisation of a signature, copy or corporate document for international use.
For a UK Ltd, this may be a Certificate of Incorporation, Articles, Companies House certificate, director’s passport, power of attorney or corporate resolution. If the document is sent abroad, an Apostille is often ordered after the required certification.
The simplest approach is to send the wording required by the bank, notary or registry. We will prepare exactly the type of certification stated in their document list.
If a certified copy is sufficient for the recipient, a notarial package is not required. If Notary Public + Apostille is expressly required, the full package is prepared.
